Teaching Pastor and Elder
Jonathan Beames accepted Christ at the age of 7 an felt a call to ministry at 15 at a summer youth camp. He has served in various ministry roles including preaching, leading small groups, and student ministry. He received a Master of Divinity and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Old Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jonathan met his wife Alyse at their home church in the Houston area. They were married in 2013 and have two wonderful children, Eli and Emma. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and spending time outdoors. Jonathan’s role at HPC is to equip the saints to make disciples in the Nacogdoches area through preaching the Word, prayer, and developing leaders.
Elder and Music Leader
Billy Birdwell was saved during a revival service at the age of 10. He married his wife, Janice, in 1992 and joined Harvest Point Church. They have three sons, Trenton, Ty and Trey, and feel blessed that they all currently reside in Nacogdoches. After high school Billy started working for a local carpenter and learned all aspects of the building trade. He has been a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years and specializes in cabinet building and laminate installation. Billy has served the church as an elder since 2005 and also currently fills the role of music leader. He and Janice started as Sparks leaders when Awana clubs were begun at Harvest Point in 1997 and since 2005 they have served as co-commanders. In his leisure time he enjoys hunting and dabbling in gun smithing.
Elder and Media Minister
Charles Eaves came to Christ at the age of 9 at a church camp. He has been married to Barbara since 1975 and they have one grown daughter, Jennifer. In 2005, Charles retired from a 36 year career at Stephen F Austin in the HVAC department. Charles and Barbara joined Harvest Point in 1999 and he was selected to serve as an elder in 2005. During his years at Harvest Point he has worked with the high school youth including serving as youth director and accompanying them on many, many excursions, mission trips, and camps. He and Barbara currently serve in the media ministry faithfully working in the sound booth each week. He also serves as an Awana club leader and Sunday school teacher.
Frank Hoppe accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 10. When he married his wife, Sandra, in 1969 he became a part of the Harvest Point family. He and Sandra have two grown sons, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Frank retired from a 42 year career at NIBCO in 2008 and became assistant to the pastor of Harvest Point, where he ministered for several years. He has served the church in various capacities that include Sunday school superintendent, treasurer and on numerous committees. He was selected to serve as an elder in 2005 and also volunteers as an Awana club leader and assistant Sunday school teacher. In his free time Frank enjoys fishing, keeping up with his great grandchild, and traveling with Sandra.
